Watch for Me NC logoThe “Watch for Me NC” program aims to reduce pedestrian and bicycle injuries and deaths through a comprehensive, targeted approach of public education and police enforcement. The initiative is supported by the NCDOT, UNC’s Highway Safety Research Center, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The campaign, which targets the entire Triangle, consists of pedestrian and driver safety messages through social and electronic media. Localizing this initiative to UNC, UNC Police has stepped up enforcement and communications efforts, positioned police officers at high-traffic crosswalks and sponsored prizes to those pedestrians and bicyclists seen adhering to common sense practices.
