About Mia
Mia is a new member of UNC Police, and she’s here to bring comfort, support and wellness to the Carolina community. With her friendly temperament and hypoallergenic coat, Mia is perfectly suited for her role as a therapy dog.
Training and Certification
Right now, Mia is busy learning the basics of good behavior, like sitting, staying and lying down. This fall, she’ll start advanced training to master the specialized techniques needed for therapy work.
Community Engagement
The Carolina community had a hand in naming Mia, choosing her name in honor of legendary UNC-Chapel Hill alumna and soccer icon, Mia Hamm. You can follow Mia’s adventures and be a part of her journey on Instagram @unctherapydogmia.
To schedule a group or event visit with Mia, please complete this request form at least two (2) weeks prior to your requested date. You will receive a confirmation email once Mia’s availability has been verified.
