The University of North Carolina Police Department is committed to reducing the occurrence and severity of childhood injuries and death from motor vehicle-related incidents. To address this, the department hosts a Child Passenger Safety Program which provides resources and outreach to parents and caregivers to help educate them on proper transportation and restraints for children. The department also assists with the task of ensuring child restraints are used and installed properly.

The department has three officers who are certified as nationally recognized Child Passenger Safety Technicians. These officers also have received specialty training and have experience with the proper installation of these restraints. The department provides Child Passenger Seat (CPS) checks by appointment at the Public Safety Building.

Parents and caregivers who wish to set up an appointment for a CPS check should fill out the form below.
